The 2015 hockey season / Hokkie op die wenpad

The 2015 hockey season has been a bumper edition thus far! During the April holidays Paul Roos were fortunate enough to tour Holland and Belgium, where 28 players enjoyed exposure to some European coaching styles as well as tough opposition. This tour has laid the foundation for a successful season of flowing and attractive hockey from our lads.

This season Paul Roos had 53 players representing Boland across the various age groups. A special mention must go to the 11 Paul Roosers who represented Boland u18A at IPT this year and made history by becoming the first ever Boland u18 team to win this prestigious tournament. Along with the success of the tournament, Paul Roos is also proud to mention that Jaco van der Watt, Justin de Nysschen, Breda Reed and Andrew Hobson were selected for the SA u18A team whilst Wouter Bezuidenhout and Ross Campbell were selected for the SA u18B team. Hobson was chosen as the defender of the tournament and Reed was chosen as the midfielder of the tournament as well as the Player of the Tournament – these are remarkable achievements.

As we head into the last few weeks of the season we still have our annual clash against Grey College from Bloemfontein looming large. This traditional encounter is a fitting fixture to bring down the curtain on a splendid season especially in our 150th year.
