Old Boy (2014) and now Maties student Michael Lord, won the ITU World Junior Cross Triathlon Championships at the World Championships Race held in Sardinia in Italy on 27 September.
The weather conditions were good and Michael had a solid swim leg, exiting the water in 4th place behind two German and one Italian triathletes. He then managed to overtake the race leaders during the off-road MTB cycling leg to enter the run transition in 1st place. Michael held on to his 1st place throughout the trail run leg of the triathlon. His total time was 1:19.4 for the 750m swim, 19km MTB and 6km trail run.
