Niel matriculated at Paul Roos Gimnasium in 1999. At Stellenbosch University he received a B Acc (Accounting) 2004, a B Phil in Journalism (2010) and an MBA (2016). He also attended the Bologna Business School and the Free State University for a post graduate diploma in financial planning.
Currently he is managing communications at Momentum Investments, but spent some time honing his writing skills at Sake24 and FinWeek.
