Die Polla-konsep begin lekker posvat. Saamtrekke het op 11 Maart in Stellenbosch (baie informeel) en op 25 Maart in die Helderberg plaasgevind (sien foto’s).
Paul Benson (1990) is een van die groot dryfkragte agter die Helderberg-Polla, tesame met Schalk van Reenen en Helgard Slabbert. Hulle het die Ondersteun ‘n Paul Rooser-projek by die Helderberg-Pollakuier van 25 Maart 2021 bekend gestel.
Paul tells us more: “Helderberg Polla met on the evening of the 25th of March at Bossa Somerset West. All enjoyed a fabulous evening out – lots of fun was had, new friendships and acquittances were made, lots of banter and stories of yesteryears and current times told, not to mention the incredible generosity from the OB’s. We managed to raise over R9,000 for a very worthy cause.
“Support a PRG learner was launched on the evening. The consensus was that the funds should be used for an existing learner from the Helderberg Basin. The group would like to look after learners who are already in the school and where there is a risk that we might lose them to other schools due to financial constraints. The group does not want to leave anyone behind. The general feeling was that the group does not want to be prescriptive on how the funds are allocated by PRG, but wanted to share our wishes with the school.
The Helderberg Polla challenges and encourages other Polla’s groups to join them in this incredible life changing initiative.”
