Bradley Weiss wins his second Xterra World Championship

Bradley Weiss (2007) did it again, when he won the Xterra World Championships for the 2nd time in Maui, Hawaii on October 27. The first time was in 2017. He came second last year.

Bradley said afterwards: 

“I didn’t know I would ever win again, so today’s win today was incredibly wonderful,” he said. “It’s such a unique race and special race and something that so many athletes put time and effort into and that makes it all the more sweet to win, knowing that everyone arrives here in the best shape on race day. You have to make it count. I couldn’t be happier.”

Beroep op Old Boys om droogtehulpfonds te steun

Leon Mostert (1973) het na ʼn besoek aan Sutherland waar hy die omvang en impak van die droogte besef het, sy klasmaats genader om die Sutherland-droogtehulpfonds te steun. Die OSU het besluit om die fonds onder alle Old Boys bekend te maak omdat daardie boere dit bitter nodig het.

Fondse word in die trustrekening van ʼn prokureursfirma inbetaal. Die firma administreer die fronds gratis en sal die uitbetalings hanteer. Die verspreiding van voer sal deur die plaaslike

Voorsitter, Kantoorbestuurder by SASAA-Konferensie

Gustav Potgieter, voorsitter van die Oudskoliere-unie, en Elza van der Walt, kantoorbestuurder, het die jaarlikse SASAA- konferensie (South African Schools Alumni Association) van 12 tot 14 September 2019 by Hoër Meisieskool Eunice in Bloemfontein bygewoon, met al die sosiale aktiwiteite by Grey-Kollege. Eerste Interskole-dinee verloop seepglad

The first Interschools Formal Dinner on Thursday 15 August this year did not only succeed in its aim to raise funds for rugby development at Paul Roos Gymnasium, but also provided first class entertainment in the form of a panel discussion between Old Boy Springboks from both PRG and Grey College and an auction of rare items. This event was the culmination of months of hard work and is hopefully here to stay on the annual calendar. Paul Rooser ontvang Tagore-medalje in Londen

Roelof Temmingh (2014), the first ever Paul Roos student accepted at the Royal College of Music in London, received not only a BMusHons in July this year from this acclaimed institution but also the Tagore Medal for being one of the two most generally deserving senior students for outstanding contributions musically and other important ways to the life of the RCM. Philip Erasmus completes gruelling Freedom Challenge Across South Africa for the second time at the age of 70

Philip Erasmus (1966) het vanjaar vir ‘n tweede keer die  uitdagende FRCASA-wedren  voltooi en sodoende die eerste 70-jarige geword om dit reg te kry. Die eerste keer was in 2014 kort nadat sy vrou, Sue, gediagnoseer is met borskanker, wat sy oorkom het. Hy het ook vanjaar die wedren aangepak ter nagedagtenis aan sy seun Adré, wat in ‘n fietsry-ongeluk in Januarie 2015 oorlede is. ‘n Besondere eer het Old Boy André Pelser (1968) te beurt geval toe hy einde verlede jaar die Ridderskruis van die Hongaarse Meriete-orde ontvang het vir sy bydrae om verhoudinge tussen Hongarye en Suid-Afrika te versterk en vir sy doeltreffende hulp wanneer daar na die belange van daardie land se burgers omgesien word. Ereborde versterk historiese bande met Universiteit van Stellenbosch

While the school and the university parted ways more than a hundred years ago, ties are being kept strong between US and PRG, especially by means of honorary doctorates to Old Boys who have excelled in their respective fields as well as by being awarded the Chancellor’s Medal for the top academic performer final year student. Justin Harding verras op Augusta met vuurwarm setwerk

Old Boy Justin Harding’s solid performance at Augusta in April was the highlight of the US Masters for South African golf fans, but it came as no surprize for those that know him well. Hard work not only turned around his golfing career, but may also open other doors for him on the international scene. He is currently ranked 44th in the world, but with his new confidence, work ethics and big stage temperament Harding is a golfer to watch.
